Weather maps show the counties in England that are set to be the hottest this coming weekend, as weather maps show certain parts of the country soaring to as high as 29C. The UK is currently experiencing a heatwave, which has seen temperatures exceed 30C in certain parts of the country. While some cool days have broken up the heatwave, temperatures are expected to rise again over the coming days and into the weekend.
A weather map shows the areas of England which are set to be the hottest from Friday, June 27, onwards. The south of the country will experience the hottest temperatures, with populated areas like London getting quite hot. Meanwhile, places like Norfolk and Lincoln will get temperatures from the mid to high 20s. The Met Office says that conditions will feel fresh on Thursday but will get hot and humid after that.
The 31 counties that are to get the hottest from Friday onwards are:
- Somerset
- Dorset
- Hampshire
- Isle of Wight
- Wiltshire
- Surrey
- West Sussex
- East Sussex
- Kent
- Greater London
- Berkshire
- Buckinghamshire
- Oxford
- Gloucester
- Worchestershire
- Warwick
- Nothamptonshire
- Bristol
- Bedford
- Hertfordshire
- Essex
- Suffolk
- Norfolk
- Cambridge
- Lincoln
- Shrewsbury
- West Midlands
- Cheshire
- Leicestershire
- Rutland
- Nottinghamshire
Most of Wales won't reach more than 20C while temperatures in Scotland will largely stay in the teens, as willNorthern Ireland.
From Saturday onwards, weather conditions will be "changeable", the Met Office says. Its forecast for the period reads: "Atlantic low pressure systems [will] pass to the northwest of the UK.
"These will tend to bring some occasional rain or showers, most frequent in northwestern areas, where it may also be rather breezy or windy at times. Whilst some rain or showers will be possible across the south and east, here longer drier spells are more likely, under the influence of higher pressure.
"There is also the chance of some occasional very warm, perhaps locally hot weather, as south or southwesterly winds allow brief bursts of hotter air to encroach from the continent, but probably fairly short-lived and perhaps also accompanied by a few thunderstorms at times."
