We all adore the classic jacket potato, with its tantalising crispy exterior and heavenly fluffy centre.

Yet, achieving that perfect balance can be elusive for many, particularly when using an air fryer.

However, a culinary whizz has revealed her method for cooking the ultimate spud in an air fryer, promising 'amazing' results.

The influencer, dubbed 'Air Fryer Girl', has amassed a following of 405,000 on Instagram under her @airfryergirluk handle. She's known for dishing out air fryer recipes that transform favourite meals, and her latest about how to cook a jacket potato is turning heads.

Her video kicks off with an appetising jacket potato smothered in melted butter gracing the screen, accompanied by the caption: "The perfect air fryer jacket potato."

She then demonstrates her technique, advising viewers to "prick the skins with a fork" initially. Next, she recommends brushing the potatoes with sunflower oil and seasoning them with salt and pepper.

After arranging the potatoes on the air fryer tray, she slides them in to cook at 180C for 45 minutes. The end result?

Potatoes that emerge irresistibly crispy on the outside yet sumptuously soft within.

In her post's caption, Air Fryer Girl enthuses: "Who doesn't love a Jacket Potato?! Perfectly cooked in the air fryer, every time."

The video has become a hit, amassing over 5,800 likes. Numerous followers have expressed their gratitude for the tip, with one commenting: "I've yet to perfect a jacket potato in the air fryer. Always comes out hard in the middle."

One individual lamented their lack of success with air fryers, stating: "I haven't had any success with jacket potatoes in the air fryer. And I love a jacket potato. I'll give this one more try but then I'm afraid it's back to the gas oven."

Conversely, some have found a workaround by combining appliances, as one person shared: "I do mine half cooked in the microwave and then half in air fryer. Takes half the time and perfect every time! ".

Another person recommended a similar approach: "I like to give my potato ten minutes in the microwave first, then follow your method other than it then only needs ten to twelve minutes in the air fryer. Outside crispy and inside soft and fluffy."
