Social media videos showing some of Jay Slater's final moments were played in court. The inquest saw clips taken by the 19-year-old in the early hours of June 17 from a car and of a mountainous area in Tenerife.
One Snapchat clip released during the hearing was from the back of a car heading for an Airbnb in the remote village of Masca, which is about 22 miles (36km) away from where he was staying. The inquest heard that a separate video taken between 5.50am and 7.20am was sent to a friend, Joshua Forshaw, showing views of the surrounding mountains.
Jay Slater was found dead by Spanish police nearly a month later on July 15, 2024, at the bottom of a ravine in a remote national park in Tenerife, about a three-hour walk from Masca.
The inquest at Preston Coroner's Court was adjourned on Wednesday after his mother, Debbie Duncan, made a plea to the senior coroner to seek two key witnesses who may have vital information about her son's final moments.
Ayub Qassim and Steven Roccas were renting the Airbnb property in Masca where Mr Slater had travelled that morning.
Friends of Mr Slater had previously reported him getting into a car with two men, understood to be Mr Qassim and Mr Roccas, in Playa de las Americas where he had been attending an NRG music festival.
Senior coroner Dr James Adeley told the court the Metropolitan Police had tried to locate the two men in London to serve witness summons, but they had not been found.
Ms Duncan said in court: "How can we ever get any understanding? There's things we want to question. We want these people to be sat in front of us, because our son went on holiday and didn't come back, so there's questions we need to ask."
Dr Adeley agreed to adjourn the inquest despite the "difficulties" in locating them, responding: "In view of your distress we will make attempts to find them using whatever means we can."
The apprentice bricklayer of Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was found to have suffered severe head injuries consistent with a fall from height.
According to toxicology reports and his own messages to friends, Mr Slater had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol with traces of MDMA, cocaine and ketamine in his system when he died. It was unclear how long before his death he had taken them.
