Lee Anderson will declare Reform UK can win the next general election as he warns "we have a real battle on our hands to save our great country".

The senior MP will say that older generations are horrified by "nourished grey-haired vegans" bringing London to a standstill "whilst the Met police stood by".

Mr Anderson, addressing the party's annual conference on Friday, will say "I remember a time when children went to school and were taught how to read, write and become good citizens".

In a fiery speech in Birmingham, he will add: "They were not taught they could be a different gender and they did not have to sit down and watch a drag queen reading them stories.

"Yet it has been happening under our watch. I want this nonsense to stop. Let kids be kids.

"Imagine telling folk on the picket lines of the 80s that in the future that a load of under nourished grey-haired vegans in their 60s could turn up in their Jesus sandals and bring London to a standstill whilst the Met police stood by and did nothing apart from dance the Macerana or stand there admiring the rainbows on their police cars.

"Friends, we have a real battle on our hands to save our great country. It's you the People's Army that is the last defence as Parliament has given up on us.

"We have 5 MPs, and we are growing our membership and support every day. Next year we will win hundreds of council seats across the UK.

"We must take this fight to Parliament so we can take back control of our country and in 2029 win the general election.

"We can do this, but we can only get our country back if we stand strong."

Up to 4,000 Reform UK members will attend Birmingham's NEC on Friday and Saturday with the party narrowly trailing the Conservatives in the polls.

And Zia Yusuf, the party's chairman, will reveal how he plans to propel Nigel Farage into Downing Street.

He is expected to say: "We are building a movement in this country the likes of which has never before been seen. We are organising, mobilising, galvanising. We are going to build a grassroots election winning machine.

"In that time we have seen our membership surge to over 80,000, launched hundreds of Reform local constituency branches, and prepared to stand over 2000 candidates in local elections next year.

"By 2029 Reform UK will be ready to be the party of government, and a Prime Minister Farage will embark on the most ambitious and bold reforms this country has seen in our lifetimes."

Reform UK won five MPs in July's General Election.

Leader Nigel Farage has said he is "relinquishing" control of Reform UK as he is giving up his majority shareholder position.

Reform UK Ltd is a registered company, unlike most other political parties, and was previously registered as the Brexit Party from 2018-2021.

Companies House lists party leader Mr Farage, and deputy leader Richard Tice, as persons with significant control, with Mr Farage currently owning more than 50% of shares.

But the party has faced frequent criticism over its election campaign for racist or xenophobic comments made on social media by candidates, after which Mr Farage vowed he would "professionalise" the party in a bid to become the official opposition in 2029.
