has been accused of letting video games distract him from his darts career.
The 17-year-old was recently dumped out of the World Grand Prix in the opening round after being beaten by world No. 4. Littler has been using new darts in recent weeks, which some believe has coincided with a few of his disappointing recent performances.
However, former darts star Dennis Priestley believes that it is likely to be the popular football game FIFA which is to blame for Littler's struggles.
Speaking to BoyleSports, he said: "It looks that way for Luke [getting distracted by things away from the oche like video games]. He's not that good to be able to take things for granted.
"The more times he keeps getting beat, the more it's going to affect his confidence. He needs to inherit the aura about him like Phil Taylor had."
Littler will be hoping to add to the nine titles that he has won already in his debut professional season before going on to take aim at the World Darts Championship in December, 12 months after he burst into the public eye at the event.
Littler remains one of the favourites to win every event that he enters, but Priestley has urged the teen to reach out to Taylor to seek advice on how to continue thriving in the world of darts.
The 74-year-old said: "If Littler feels he needs some advice, it wouldn't hurt to reach out to Phil. He has to have that mentality if he wants to be thought of as one of the best players of all time."
It is not the first time that former world champion Priestley has spoken out on Littler, having recently urged him to ensure that he is surrounded by the 'right people'.
Speaking on , Priestley revealed that Littler has the potential to eclipse the worth of David Beckham if he remains focused. He said: "Luke Littler is still so young and his career could go one way or the other. I just hope he's surrounding himself with the right people who will keep him grounded. If they can do that and he can remain at the top of his game for 10 or so years, then he'll be worth more than David Beckham.
"However, it's hard for any player to remain at the top for that length of time. Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry managed a decade at the top of snooker, but it's very difficult to go on for longer than that. Phil Taylor dominated darts for nearly 20 years but that is not the norm."
