A man has died following a serious crash on the M60 in Greater Manchester in the early hours of this morning (Sunday). Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.56am on Sunday, June 29, after reports of a collision between junctions 21 and 20. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorway was closed in both directions for several hours while officers carried out investigation work, before it opened clockwise around 12noon.

National Highways said the M60 is likely to remain shut anti-clockwise between J23 (Ashton-under-Lyne) and J21 (Chadderton) until around 5pm. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and follow diversion routes. Police and National Highways traffic officers were on scene.
