Compounding the anxiety, fans are all too aware of theories regarding Jamie's potential demise, as he haunts the first episode as a spectre before Claire's journey through time begins.

Another fan shared their distress, saying: "I'm sobbing," while yet another is gearing up for an emotional rollercoaster: "Oh my almost crying at the trailer, ill go get so tissues in bulk for november." (sic)

Curiosity is also rampant, as one fan posed the question: "All I wanna know is if they're going to explain Jamie being a ghost in the first season? ? ? ? Then I will be ok with the show ending." (sic)

Diana Gabaldon, the author behind the beloved book series, has hinted at a bittersweet conclusion, assuring fans of a tearful yet satisfying finale. However, the plot thickens as some viewers speculate about the fate of Jamie, especially since Diana confirmed the sighting of Frank Randall's ghost by Tobias Menzies in Outlander's very first episode.

Approximately 25 minutes into the inaugural episode, Frank encounters a mysterious figure in the raina man who seems to be gazing intently at the window of the bed and breakfast where he and Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) are staying.

In a spine-chilling moment, Claire is grooming herself unaware as Frank comes face to face with a spectral presence, only for the apparition to vanish. "You look like you've seen a ghost," she remarks as he returns, shaken.

His eerie response was: "I'm not all sure that I haven't."

It becomes apparent that what Frank encountered was no mere illusion but a ghost of the Scotsman Claire weds in her extraordinary journey through time.

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
