You may want to see more robins in your garden - and there's one easy way you can attract them. Looking out into your garden and seeing a robin at your bird bath or on your fence can bring a smile to your face.
Robins bring joy to many bird-watchers but they can also have practical benefits such as being a natural form of pest control by eating insects. Their cheerful song adds a pleasant and lively atmosphere to your outdoor space, and especially over the colder months, this can go a long way.
According to So Feminine, you can attract them to your garden by leaving out some cooked pasta.
You can purchase pasta from Tesco for as little as 65p, making this an affordable way to feed robins.
It says you should use cooked, cooled, unsalted pasta and cut it into pea-sized pieces and leave them out in the evening.
It suggests using small portions and removing leftovers the same day.
So Feminine added: "Never give raw pasta. Dry pieces swell when wet and can cause discomfort or internal harm. Robins feed from the ground or low tables, so soft texture and small size matter. Boil until tender, rinse, cool fully, and scatter a modest amount in a clean spot away from heavy footfall."
Not only this, but the RSPCA says anyone can help feed birds without having to buy any specialist food. Many bird species are under threat due to habitat loss, reductions in food sources, such as the decline in insect numbers, as well as climate change and pollution.
That's why gardeners are being urged to do what they can to help birds out by providing food for them, which in turn will help birds feed their young fledglings in August.
By making this one small addition to your garden, you can help support the wildlife in your outdoor space.
