Summer season is almost here, and if you've got an exciting trip booked, then you're probably already thinking about outfits. However, if you want plenty of options and tend to over-pack, then trying to fit everything in can be a real struggle.
This becomes even more difficult if you've only got a small suitcase as part of your allowance. While it can , it's a nightmare trying to cram everything in, especially if you're packing last-minute. However, according to one lifestyle influencer on social media, there's a very simple technique that'll allow you to fit in all the clothes you need for your holiday.
Chantel Mila, also known as on TikTok, is no stranger to sharing her life hacks online. With a following base of more than 1.6 million people, her cleaning and lifestyle tips are easy to do at home.
And with summer holiday season approaching, she recently shared a video focused on the best ways to pack a suitcase for a trip, ensuring you can fit everything in - even with a small luggage allowance.
One of these tips couldn't bes simpler to do, and it instantly creates so much more space for your holiday clothes, shoes and accessories.
Instead of laying your suitcase flat on the ground and placing your items in like you'd typically pack it, Chantel suggested instead keeping it upright and packing your clothes vertically in columns.
You can then compress down as much as you need to fit in all of your items, folding them as flat as possible to get them all in.
Not only will this help to maximise space, but you'll be able to see everything in your case much more clearly, which will make unpacking so much easier when you reach your destination.
And if you're worried about your clothes smelling musty on arrival, Chantel has an excellent tip. Once you've packed all of your clothes vertically in your case, grab a few cotton wool balls and your favourite essential oil, and dab a few drops on to them.
Then, place the cotton wool in a small bag or pouch and place it in amongst your clothes. This will keep them smelling fresh while they're packed, which could be really helpful if you're about to embark on a long-haul flight.
In the comments, people were quick to show their appreciation for Chantel's tips. One person said: "Flying home from college in three days, this was perfect timing."
Another wrote: "The essential oils never occurred to me, will def be incorporating!"
