Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid sparked backlash as she appeared on BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. The ITV star shared her thoughts on UK politics after a disastrous week for Labour, following Rachel Reeves' tears in the House of Commons, which left Keir Starmer embarrassed.
When asked her thoughts on Labour while she sat on the panel, Susanna said: "Well I was struck when I heard someone say, 'I quite like Nigel Farage because I saw him on I'm A Celebrity', and I thought perhaps Sir Keir Starmer needs to go on I'm A Celeb in order for voters to know who he is, as the words that seem to be coming out of everyone's mouth is 'I don't know'. Laura replied: "Well that has kind of been an issue all along hasn't it, he was even struggling with that when he was leader of the opposition, I remember seeing a lot pieces saying 'who is he and what does he stand for?'
However, viewers did not agree with Susanna's sentiment, as one said: "According to Susanna Reid, Starmer should go to I'm a Celebrity, we are doomed and surrounded by idiots."
Another added: "Ah Susanna. We know EXACTLY who Starmer is!" as a third raged: "Really @susannareid100? Your solution is to put @Keir_Starmer on celebrity get me out of here? What a bimbo remark to make on #bbclaurak."
A fourth said: "What? Apparently it would be good for Starmer to go on I'm a Celeb or Strictly?! I can guarantee this wouldn't improve his profile... only resigning would help!" A fifth asked: "Isn't he a bit busy running the country?"
But a sixth said: "Well said Susanna. People are still feeling poorer and not getting any more money while bills and food prices just keep going up! Labour are a disgrace!! The money's there but it gets spent on the wrong things! Scrap net zero, foreign aid, wasting money on weapons etc."
Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg airs on Sundays at 9am on BBC1.
