Give Pakistan Two Points If India Don't Travel: Basit Ali Makes Big Statement Over Champions Trophy Fiasco

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has suggested that Pakistan should be awarded two points if India refuse to play them in the big clash on Pakistani soil in the Champions Trophy. He said that even if the tournament is held in a hybrid model, Pakistan should play all their matches at home and if India refuse to travel, then the hosts should be handed two points. The International Cricket Council has sought a response from the Pakistan Cricket Board on hosting the Champions Trophy in a hybrid model after India refused to travel to the nation for the event. The Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday, November 10 confirmed that it received an email from the ICC that India declined to travel to the neighbouring nation. "Do you remember that in the 1996 World Cup Sri Lanka got 2-2 points after West Indies and Australia did not go? Try to put India and Pakistan in different pools, the ICC will refuse. Pakistan and India are always in the same pool because of money," Basit Ali said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

"If there is a hybrid model and India don't visit Pakistan, give Pakistan two points. It has happened before too, so try it now," Basit Ali said. The Windies didn't travel to Sri Lanka for the 1996 Cricket World Cup because of a bombing in Colombo that took place three weeks before the tournament. In January of that year, the Tamil Tigers bombed the Central Bank in Colombo. The Windies and Australia refused to play in Sri Lanka because of the bombing. The sides forfeited their games in Colombo and no compromise could be reached.“Unless the PCB decides to pull out of hosting the Champions Trophy the current plan is to hold India’s matches in UAE and the final in Dubai," a source told PTI on Monday.
