It was a memorable outing for Mayank Agarwal-led India A who pipped Ruturaj Gaikwad's India C for the Duleep Trophy 2024 title on Sunday in Ananthapur. Tanush Kotian and Prasidh Krishna stole the show with their combined six wickets as they overshadowed Sai Sudharsan’s valiant 111. The equation before the final made the 132-run victory all the more dramatic as India A needed an outright victory over India C who were three points ahead, to overtake them in the points table. Indian speedster Arshdeep Singh also had a memorable outing as he registered his career-best figures of 6-40 as India D defeated India B by 257 runs to end their campaign on a winning note. Chasing 350 runs on the final day, India C were bowled out for 217 in 81.5 overs. Prasidh Krishna, who was playing only his second game after making a comeback after a long-term injury picked up three wickets while Tanush Kotian also registered three scalps to spark India C's collapse. At the time of Tea, the match was evenly poised, India C were batting at 169/3 as Sai Sudharsan and Ishan Kishan looked in cruise control of the chase. All they needed was 182 runs in the final session but India A bowlers had other ideas. Riyan Parag (73) and Shashwat Rawat (53) slammed fifties while Kumar Kushagra's 42 runs helped India reach a score of 286/6 when they declared, having a lead of 349 runs. India C began to collapse as Kotian dismissed Ishan Kishan (17), Abhishek Porel (0), and Pulkit Narang (6) in a short interval while Sudharsan was left to fight the lone battle. When Krishna dismissed Sai, it enabled India A to breathe easy and cruise on to a memorable victory. The Mayank Agarwal-led side took home a prize money of INR 1 crore for their exploits in the Duleep Trophy 2024, whereas India C received a prize money of INR 50 lakhs.
