India Legend Joins Ab de Villiers, Alastair Cook As Three New Names Added To ICC Hall Of Fame

The International Cricket Council (ICC) expanded their Hall of Fame as three legends of the sport were added to the prestigious list on Wednesday (October 16). The world cricket governing body revealed two male and one female cricketer are now part of the elite list of cricketers, which now has 115 members.The first inductee is South African great Ab de Villiers, who is widely regarded as arguably the greatest all-format batter of all time. The ex-Proteas captain played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs, and 78 T20Is for the national team. He made over 20,000 international runs, which included 47 centuries.Former England captain Alastair Cook has also been added to the list. Till last week, Cook held the record for being England's highest run-getter in Test cricket history. The left-handed opener was the first England player to register 10,000 runs in the longest format of the game. Cook scored 12472 runs in 161 Tests with 33 centuries.The third newest addition is Indian women's cricket legend Neetu David. She is the 10th Indian to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. David is the only second Indian female cricketer to feature in the list after Diana Edulji.

Who Is Neetu David? Neetu David, a left-arm spinner is India's second-highest wicket-taker in Women's ODI with 141 scalps in 97 matches. David also played 10 Tests for India and took 41 wickets. She made both her Test and ODI debut for the country in 1995. She played international cricket for more than a decade. Her last appearance in a Test match for the country was in 2006 against Australia. Her final outing in national team colours was against England in an ODI in 2008. Apart from David and Edulji, there are eight Indian male players part of the ICC Hall of Fame namely Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, Vinoo Mankad, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, and Rahul Dravid. It is worth noting a player is only eligible to be part of the ICC Hall of Fame five years after their international retirement.
