The sole vice presidential debate scheduled before the November election has pitted relative newbies to the national political scene, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio against Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota on Tuesday. Before his debate with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz tonight, former President Donald Trump was asked what advise he had provided to Ohio Senator JD Vance, his running partner. Trump responded, "I said, 'JD, have fun!'"Although Walz, Kamala Harris' running partner, has a lengthy political history, most people outside of Minnesota were not familiar with him prior to joining the Democratic ticket. The author of "Hillbilly Elegy," Vance, was elected to government for the first time in 2022—less than two years before former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump chose him to be his running partner.
