Prayagraj: A joint team of Special Task Force (Prayagraj unit) and Leelapur police of Pratapgarh district on Friday arrested a criminal identified as Anup Shukla, a resident of Raniganj in connection with a case registered with Leelapur police station under sections 318(2), 132, 115(2), 352, 351(2), 61(2), and 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). He was also carrying a Rs 25,000 cash reward on his head.
The joint team, acting upon a specific tip-off that the wanted criminal was roaming around Dharaura turn with the intention to escape from town, raided the site and arrested him near the Lucknow-Varanasi highway. Police said three criminal cases were pending against him with Jethwara and Leelapur police stations of Pratapgarh district. Meanwhile, Hathigaon police arrested two robbers on Friday. They seized two mobiles and Rs 20,000 cash from their possession. Police said the duo robbed cash and mobile from a trader near Shukulpur village in December last year. tnn
