NEW DELHI: Authorities began demolishing the illegal portion of a mosque in the Mangolpuri area of northwest Delhi on Sunday, news agency PTI reported.
The action comes in compliance with an order issued by the Delhi high court.
Officials maintained that only unauthorised construction is being targeted in the demolition drive.
Heavy police deployment has been made at the site to maintain law and order.
“We have deployed seven companies of paramilitary forces and Delhi Police personnel. No one will be allowed to breach law and order,” a senior police officer told PTI.
