NEW DELHI: Several areas of the national capital witnessed heavy rainfall on Saturday, bringing much-needed respite from the summer heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted a cloudy sky accompanied by light rain or drizzle for the day.

On Friday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 36.7 degrees Celsius—2.6 degrees below the seasonal average—while the minimum temperature settled at 25.7 degrees Celsius, marginally above normal by 0.6 degrees. Relative humidity ranged between 61% and 48% during the day.

For Saturday, the IMD has projected maximum and minimum temperatures of around 37°C and 27°C respectively, with continued cloud cover and light precipitation likely in isolated areas.

In addition to weather changes, Delhi’s air quality remained in the "moderate" category on Saturday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 151 at 4 pm, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

As per CPCB guidelines, AQI levels between 101 and 200 are categorized as "moderate", indicating an acceptable level of air quality for the general population, though sensitive groups may experience minor respiratory discomfort.
