Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has directed Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to submit its detailed plan for removing the remaining encroachments along Sirsi Road by May 23. The directive comes as part of ongoing road widening from Jharkhand Mahadev Mod intersection to the 200 Feet Bypass.
During the hearing of a contempt petition filed by Vijay Kumar Boyat and others, the division bench of Justice Inderjeet Singh and Justice Anand Sharma was informed that the JDA has successfully cleared 90% of the encroachments in the area. However, the petitioners alleged that the authority halted the removal work midway, necessitating court intervention.
JDA counsel Amit Kudi, appearing before the court, explained that the anti-encroachment drive, which began on April 9, faced significant challenges including a massive protest and legal challenges from affected parties. "Approximately 30 people approached the JDA tribunal seeking stays on the removal drive. While we managed to get 26 stay applications rejected, five cases received interim stays," Kudi said.
The court has granted the JDA an additional three days to formulate a plan.
