Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress Munmun Dutta, who has made her mark in the entertainment industry with her remarkable journey, recently opened up about her first paycheck. Recalling the surprising moment from her early career, Munmun shared shocking details about the amount she received for her very first earning. From that humble beginning to establishing her financial stability, Munmun reveals how her perspective on money shaped her career and life.
She recalls the moment she received her first paycheck and the emotions she felt. She says, "I received my first paycheck when I was just seven years old, Rs 125 for singing on Air India Radio. I gave it to my mom, and they kept it safe."
As she moved ahead in her career, Munmun explained how she managed her finances, even when she started earning regularly. She shares, "I’ve always been extremely cautious with money. I come from a lower middle-class background, so splurging just because I had some money was never part of my mindset, and honestly, it still isn’t."
Instead of splurging, she focused on securing her future. Munmun recalls, "Back then, if I had any money, I would either save it or invest in something meaningful. One of my biggest dreams was to buy a house for myself in Bombay. My goal was always to find a sense of stability and enough financial comfort to pay rent for at least the next two or three months, so I could continue going for auditions without the stress of immediate survival. That was my version of splurging, securing peace of mind."
Even after she started earning more regularly, she remained grounded. Munmun shares, "Even after I started earning regularly, I didn’t change the PG I was staying in. I continued living there until I could afford a small apartment of my own only then did I move."
Her grounded approach towards money is evident when she says, "I love money, I respect money, and I truly believe it’s one of the most important things in life. I’ve always treated it with care and responsibility, and that perspective continues to guide my choices to this day."
