Today marks the 13th anniversary of Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri starrer Rockstar. To mark the occasion, check out this interesting trivia on the memorable film.

As Rockstar clocks 13 years today, fans have been reminiscing about the sublime frames from Imtiaz Ali's cult classic. Among the notable memories from that production is when Ranbir Kapoor was brought on board for the role of Janardan Jakhar.

Shooting the soulful qawwali Kun Faaya Kun, Ranbir Kapoor went spiritually agog in the very holy setting of Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah. The actor stayed at the shrine, famous for its qawwali sessions, for nearly two days to really connect with the essence of the character he portrays in the film.

The Dargah, constructed in 1325 by Mohammad Bin Tughlaq, is an important landmark for the Rockstar cast. Imtiaz Ali is, in fact, such a regular there that many scenes for the film were shot on location.

Kapoor did not stop there; he also stayed with a Jat family for a few days to further imprint the grounded nature of Janardan in him. The actor was grunting to perfection with intense practice on the guitar.

Post 2011, Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar became with a cult classic. With all its soulful music, poignant performances and real, stunning visuals, the movie is one of the favourite masterpieces for many viewers, and marked a defining moment in Kapoor's acting journey.

AR Rahman gave one of the most unforgettable Hindi film soundtracks of all times with Rockstar, and the opinion was well shared among fans and critics alike.

With a soulful voice given by Mohit Chauhan and the evocative lyrics by Irshad Kamil, the album of Rockstar quickly became a classic. Decades after, the music of Rockstar continued to be in the hearts of the listeners because of the subtlety, yet definite emotional depth mixed with magic, which did not lose a shred of its original charm in its original rendition.

Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali spoke about the character of Jordan from Rockstar in an old interview with Indian Express. He called the character of Ranbir "non-cerebral," and admitted to this vision, while watching the film again, though he confessed that it did not entirely make the character's actions justified rationally.

Ali also spoke about the backlash the song Sadda Haq has gained, especially the question of what Jordan was fighting for. For those who did not know, the movie re-released in May 2024, and raked over Rs 5.65 crores in India within one month.
