$TRUMP Meme Coin Gala: All that happened at the US President's 'exclusive' dinner party

All the criticism in the world can’t stop Donald Trump from hosting Galas for the rich and elites, where he can boast ‘exclusivity’!

Over a month back, it was announced that the President of the United States of America would be offering a ‘taste of power’ where he would be extending a unique invitation to the top holders of the $TRUMP meme coin for a private dinner and, for the biggest investors, a White House tour ! Trump made good on his promise and, despite sitting amidst heaps of criticism, he held a lavish black-tie dinner at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia to honor the top 220 purchasers of his meme cryptocurrency , $TRUMP. To add more jazz to that Gala, attendees collectively spent an astonishing $148 million on the token, reflecting the increasing fascination with crypto and its influencers.

What is a $TRUMP Coin?

The Trump meme coin was launched on January 17, 2025, three days before Trump was inaugurated as president of the United States. Back when it was launched, the lack of a public announcement initially led to concerns that the cryptocurrency was a scam and might have no association with Trump himself. However, several hours later, Trump announced $TRUMP on his X and Truth social accounts. The meme coin website described it as the "only official Trump meme". The logo of the meme coin is a cartoon image of Trump raising his fist after surviving the attempted assassination in July 2024.

However, a disclaimer said that the coin was "not intended to be, or the subject of" an investment opportunity or a security, and was "not political and has nothing to do with" any political campaign, political office, or government agency. The terms of the offering prohibit coin buyers from joining any class-action lawsuits against the project and assert indemnity against any claims. Despite that, after its launch, the meme coin’s price soared by over 300% overnight, with it becoming the 19th most valuable form of cryptocurrency in the world, with a total trading value of nearly $13 billion, and a total of $29 billion worth of trades based on a $64 value of each of the 200 million tokens issued by the afternoon of January 19, 2025. A March 2025 Financial Times analysis found that the crypto project netted at least $350 million ($314 million from the sale of the tokens and $36 million from fees).

What is the $TRUMP Meme Coin Gala?

Although he once was a digital asset skeptic, Trump has now thrown his weight behind cryptocurrencies, vowing to turn the US into the “world capital” for crypto innovation. A month ago, the Trump meme coin's official website showed a separate section known as "Have Dinner with President Trump", promising to be "The most exclusive invitation in the world." The glitzy invitation read, “Have Dinner with President Trump and the $TRUMP Community!”

Was Trump present at the Gala?

While the White House characterized the gathering as a “private” event where the President was present in a personal capacity, Trump made a grand entrance, arriving via Marine One. He stood before a podium embellished with the presidential seal as he addressed the audience, underscoring the blurred lines between his official duties and personal ventures.

The guests at the Gala:

The exclusive, invite-only dinner made sure to mark the presence of a colorful array of guests, ranging from crypto enthusiasts to prominent tech executives and ultra-wealthy investors. Among the high-profile attendees was former NBA star Lamar Odom . Interestingly, the gathering was not solely comprised of elites; several guests were classified as "everyday" investors who had made substantial commitments to the $TRUMP coin. Leading the charge was crypto billionaire Justin Sun , whose significant $20 million investment set the tone for the evening.

The events of the exclusive evening:

Although the exclusive dinner party was hosted by the President himself, his participation was quite brief. Trump reportedly spent a mere 23 minutes at the event.

During his time on stage, he delivered a speech that encapsulated his campaign agenda, boasted about his victory over Joe Biden, and discussed the "turnaround" in the cryptocurrency landscape since regaining his position.

Despite being the focal point of the event, Trump interacted only with a select few guests—reportedly the top 25 investors—before making his swift exit via helicopter.

The exclusive perks for VIPs:

The evening came with high-end perks, particularly for the top four investors, who were rewarded with luxurious gemstone-encrusted Tourbillon watches branded with Trump's name, each valued at an impressive $100,000. However, Trump did not personally distribute these prestigious gifts.

What about the food, though?

Although the Gala boasted of exclusive perks and elite glam, the food at the event reportedly sucked!

TikTok influencer Nicholas Pinto, who spent a substantial $300,000 on the $TRUMP coin to secure an invitation, revealed, “The food sucked. The only beverage I was offered was water or Trump’s wine. I don’t drink alcohol, so I stuck with water, which was only refilled once.”

Another attendee described the meal as “acceptable, but not extraordinary,” with Pinto noting that the sole highlight of the dining experience was the bread and butter.
