The couple, whose families shaped two defining eras of American pop culture, celebrated their anniversary with intimate posts that reminded fans how grounded their love truly is. Frances, the daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, shared a touching wedding photo, while Riley, son of skateboarding icon Tony Hawk , returned the gesture with equal affection.

On October 7, Frances took to Instagram Stories to share a glimpse from their 2023 wedding. The photo showed her and Riley standing under a floral arch, locked in an affectionate gaze.
Frances, in a classic white gown, captioned the post with humor and honesty: “Celebrating our second wedding anniversary today! @rileyhawk 🥲 We both forgot because we don't sleep anymore 😂 but I wouldn't want to walk sleeplessly through life with anyone else. I love him deep in my bones ❤️.”
Riley responded by posting a tender selfie of them together, writing, “2 years married to my best friend! ❤️♾️❤️.” The couple married in October 2023, with R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe— Frances’ godfather— officiating the ceremony. Their romance became public in early 2022, and the two have kept their relationship refreshingly low-profile ever since.
In September 2024, Frances and Riley welcomed their first child, a son named Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk. Riley recently shared that fatherhood has given him a new perspective on life and on his famous dad’s choices.
“My dad helps a lot and it's really cool that we get to all hang out together,” Riley told PEOPLE. “It's just a cool thing for him to get to hang out with his grandson a lot. That’s kind of where we're at, just taking it day by day.”

We just hang out.”
