Fans of the Padres were seen battling among themselves in the stands during a home game on May 31, 2025, at Petco Park in San Diego. The game was against the Pittsburgh Pirates.While the Padres lost the game, the spotlight quickly moved away from the field. A video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by a fan, showed how the fight started and spread.



The clip began with a man wearing a Padres jersey with the number 23. He threw the first punch. The person he hit stumbled back. Seconds later, he hit again. Another fan, wearing jersey number 13, tried to step in, but was also hit. Number 23 kept swinging as more people got involved.

Other fans in the area stepped in to stop the fight. Some tried to pull the men apart. Both fighters shouted at each other as they were separated. After some time, number 23 sat back down. The video quickly went viral.

Fans react online to fight and security concerns
After the video went live, social media users had plenty to say. One fan joked, “At least someone got hits tonight. Not the Padres.” Another wrote, “#23 has dynamite in his right hand.” Some even praised his punches, calling the fight “better than the game.”

Others, however, were upset. One fan wrote, “Stupid drunks.” Another asked, “Why do grown adults act like this?” A Reddit user raised safety concerns: “Where was security? Fans shouldn’t have to break up fights. The team needs to fix this.”

Many agreed. They said the Padres organization should improve safety at games. A few fans even said they were glad to watch the game from home. One person posted, “Best seats are at home. No fists flying.”

The fight caught the attention of both sports and news pages. While the Padres lost on the field, the stands delivered a surprising show, one that people won’t forget anytime soon.
