Apple's ambitious foray into augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) is set to continue with the highly anticipated launch of the Vision Pro 2. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman the tech giant is targeting a release window between Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 for its next-generation headset.

The Vision Pro 2 is expected to build upon the unique features of its predecessor, offering enhanced performance and a more immersive user experience. Rumours suggest that the device will be powered by the powerful M5 chip, ensuring seamless multitasking and demanding AR/VR applications.

“Apple is working on several ideas for its Vision headset line, but at least one version of the second-generation Vision Pro — assuming it’s released — will look almost entirely like the current design. The big changes are internal, including a processor upgrade,” said Gurman.

The Vision Pro 2 is expected to retain the sleek, high-end design of its predecessor. While the external appearance may remain largely unchanged, the internal upgrade will significantly enhance the device's AR capabilities, positioning it as one of the most advanced headsets on the market. On the software side, Apple is anticipated to release visionOS 2.2, which brings new AR display options for Mac.

Cheaper Apple Vision Pro not comingGurman has also revealed that Apple has shelved the plan to launch an affordable version of Apple VR headset. While Apple had initially explored the possibility of launching a more affordable version of the Vision Pro to cater to a wider audience, the company has reportedly shelved those plans. Instead, the focus remains on delivering a premium AR/VR experience with the Vision Pro 2.
