MADURAI: Srivilliputur railway police arrested two men from Chhattisgarh for placing stones on railway track between Kadayanallur railway station in Tenkasi district and Pambakovilshandy railway station in Tirunelveli district.
On Sept 25, Train No. 12662 Chennai Egmore-Pothigai express hit a stone on the tracks and was halted briefly.
Railway police registered a case and held Fulsing Baghel, 21, of Jagdalpur, and Ishvar Mediya, 23, of Bastar, who worked at a stone quarry one kilometre away from the spot where the stones were found.
During the interrogation, the two men confessed to the crime. They were remanded in judicial custody for 15 days and lodged at Virudhunagar district prison.
