Send Push
The passengers of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Shalimar Express running from Mumbai to Kolkata had a miraculous escape when one of the coaches and the parcel van derailed in Nagpur on Tuesday.

The incident took place at 2.15pm at a crossover between Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari station and Kalamna, shortly after the train departed from Nagpur. No passenger was injured, but the train was stranded for nearly eight hours. The derailment also caused significant delays to at least a dozen trains. The derailed parcel van and S2 sleeper coach were the third and 12th compartment from the engine, respectively. Other coaches remained unaffected. Immediately after receiving information, an accident relief train was dispatched to the location. Senior railway officials also rushed to the site to monitor the situation and oversee the restoration efforts.

The South East Central Railway (SECR) has formed a committee to investigate the causes of the accident.
