In a recent interview with Geo News, Asif claimed that the Shehbaz Sharif government and the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance shared a common stand on restoring Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir .
He said, "Pakistan and National Conference- Congress alliance are on the same page in Jammu and Kashmir to restore Article 370 and 35A."

Pakistan doing 'Balle Balle' over Congress-NC alliance in J-K, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched an attack on the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing it of aligning with Pakistan’s interests. PM Modi warned that a vote for Congress would lead to the reinstatement of Article 370, which he said would pave the way for violence to return to the Valley.
“Every vote given to Congress will implement the manifesto of PDP and NC. They want to bring back Article 370. This means they want bloodshed in the valley again,” PM Modi said at a public rally in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir.
He further added that the Congress-NC alliance has been warmly received by Pakistan, which he claimed has openly voiced support for the partnership.
“There may not be enthusiasm about the Congress-National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, but the neighbouring country (Pakistan) is very enthusiastic about them. Pakistan is having a great time (Balle Balle) over the Congress-National Conference alliance,” PM Modi said.
"Pakistan is very happy with the Congress-NC manifesto and has openly extended its support. Pakistan's Defence Minister has openly come out in support of the Congress-NC alliance. He says their agenda is the same as that of Pakistan. Congress and NC want to implement Pakistan's agenda here in J&K,” he added, targeting Congress in J&K.

Pakistan ’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, on Hamid Mir’s Capital Talk on Geo News, says, ' Pakistan and National Conference- Congress alliance are on the same page in Jammu & Kashmir to restore Article 370 and 35A.' What is the reason for this control? Do the Pakistanis have some leverage over Congress ?"
