NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday slammed BJP and recounted his recent imprisonment alleging that the centre had jailed him to attack his honesty. The Aam Aadmi Party chief claimed that the BJP thought they would "be able to break Kejriwal" by putting him behind the bars.
He said that the BJP falsely accused him of corruption and being a thief. “They arrested all our party leaders. They wanted to attack my honesty. They made false accusations, called me a 'bhrashtachari' and a 'chor'... I am roaming around in Delhi, people are saying that I can be anything but a 'chor'.”
Addressing a rally in Meham constituency of Rohtak in Haryana , the former Delhi CM said that he was imprisoned by the "goons" for 5 months and was deprived of medicines even though he is a diabetic patient and had to take insulin injections 4 times a day.
He further alleged that the PM wanted to abstain the Aam Aadmi Party from working and hence targeted him and other ministers.
“They thought they would be able to break Kejriwal, but they don't know that they won't be able to break this son of Haryana," he further added.
He also appealed to the public to give him a chance to serve them, calling himself a son of the state, “You son is in power in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana - which is my birthplace - comes in the middle of both states. I urge you all to give me a chance to serve you.”
He also presented the public with 5 guarantees if he comes to power. "First, we will make electricity free ... Pending electricity bills would be waived. Second, we will make hospitals and Mohalla clinics and give free medical services ... Third, we will make excellent government schools for your children ... Fourth, all women above 18 years of age would be given Rs. 1000 every month. Fifth, we will give employment to the youth ... Whoever will form the government, it will not be without Kejriwal's support."
The legislative assembly elections in Haryana are scheduled to be held on 5 October 2024 and the results will be declared on 8 October 2024.
