A shocking case of conspiracy has come to light in Khanapur taluk, where a woman was arrested for plotting her husband’s murder and attempting to watch it live through a video call.
The accused, Shaila Shivangouda Patil (40) from Balogi village in Khanapur, was arrested following the arrest of her lover Rudrappa Hosetti, who confessed to committing the murder under her instructions.
According to police, the murder took place on the night of April 1 near Gadikoppa village. Rudrappa allegedly lured Shaila’s husband, Shivangouda Patil, to the outskirts of the village, got him drunk, and then murdered him. Though Shaila tried to watch the crime over a video call, poor network made it difficult, so she spoke to Rudrappa over a regular phone call instead.
After the murder, Shaila reportedly wept over her husband’s body and pretended to grieve his death. However, a deeper investigation into phone records and interrogation revealed her involvement in the murder plot.
SP Bhimashankar Guled confirmed that the illicit relationship between Shaila and Rudrappa had been going on for some time and that she had told him to “do something” about her husband. Rudrappa confessed that the murder was carried out with her consent and planning.
